Medical doctor LUIS GATMAITAN has written and published several books for children and other non-fiction titles under OMF Literature, Adarna House, Tahanan Books and Anvil Publishing. The previous chairman of the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) received recognition for his works from the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, Catholic Mass Media Awards, PBBY-Salanga Writers' Prize, Manila Critics' Circle and the International Board on Books for Young People. In 2003, he received the Ten Outstanding Young Men award for literature.
